| | | After synching with OfficeCalendar, appointment times differ on PCs within same network. | | | Question | | | Why do different PCs within my office show the identical appointment at different times after synching with OfficeCalendar. | | Answer | Appointments and calendar entries will show at different times, and in some cases on different days, on different PCs if the PCs in question are not using the same Date & Time settings or Time Zone settings in Windows and/or Outlook. For example, user A has a Time Zone setting of Eastern Standard Time on his PC and creates an apppointment at 1PM. User B in the same Office mistakenly has his Time Zone set to Pacific Time (3 hours earlier than Eastern Standard Time). As a result, User B will see this appointment reflected with a 10AM start, 3 hours earlier than 1PM Eastern Standard Time. This mis-matched setting of various Time Zones within the same office can also lead to all day events being reflected on different days for different users. To correct this problem all installations of Windows and Outlook within the same office must have identical Time Zone, Daylight Savings, and Windows Clock settings. Please follow the instructions below to ensure that this is set up properly.
Please confirm all of the PCs running the OfficeCalendar Server and the OfficeCalendar Client have the same Windows Time & Date and Time Zone settings by following the steps below:
1. Go to the Windows Control Panel by clicking Start, Control Panel.
2. Within the Windows Control Panel, double-click the Date & Time icon, then choose the Time Zone tab.
3. Confirm that these settings are identical on the PCs in question, for both the Time Zone, the actual time, and the 'Automatically Adjust Clock for Daylight Saving Changes' check box.
If you find that any of the Windows settings are different, you will need to correct the difference and restart that particular PC.
Next check the Outlook settings on each PC.
1. Within Outlook click Tools, Options, then choose the Calendar Options button.
2. Within the Calendar Options dialogue box, choose Time Zone under Advanced Options and confirm that each Outlook has the identical settings for time zone and the 'Adjust for Daylight Saving Time' check box.
If you find that any of the settings within Outlook are different, you will need to correct the difference and restart Outlook on that particular PC. | | Back to Search Results |
